Moreno Maini was born in Modena, Italy, on February 22, 1976. He received the Dr. Ing. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in February 2003 discussing a thesis about the development of numerical methods based on the Finite Element Method for optical amplifiers analysis.
From June to August 1996 he was involved in "Fluoroaluminate Amplifiers for Second Telecom window" (FAST) project, within the frame of "Advanced Communications Technologies and Services" (ACTS) program. From November 1997 to October 1999 he was a Ph.D. student at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione (DII) of the University of Parma. He received the Ph.D. degree in Information Technology in January 2000.
From February 2000 to January 2001 he was a researcher at the Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni (CNIT). Since July 2001 he has been an Assistant Professor of Electromagnetic Fields at the School of Engineering, Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione of the University of Modena e Reggio Emilia.
His current research includes polarization-mode dispersion, integrated
optics, photonic crystals, erbium doped devices and numerical methods for
electromagnetic propagation analysis.
