EDUCATION

  • July 1999: M.S. (cum laude) in Telecommunication Engineering at University of Siena. Thesis dissertation: "Green’s Functions for phased arrays of dipoles on dielectric slab" (supervisors: Prof. S. Maci, Prof. R. Tiberio, Prof. A. Toccafondi).

  • January 2000: national qualification for engineers at the University of Florence.

  • March 2003: PhD in Information Engineering (curriculum: electromagnetic waves) at the University of Siena. Thesis dissertation: "Frequency Domain Green's Function for Periodic Large Phased Arrays in Multilayered Dielectric Regions " (tutor: Prof. R. Tiberio).

  • January 2003-October 2006: post-doc researcher at the Department of Information Engineering, University of Siena

FURTHER INFORMATION

Since 1999, she has been appointed to the profession of Engineer.

Since 2000, she is member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

In the period September 2003-December 2005, she has been president of the academic spin-off company WaveComm srl.

Since 2006, she is the Italian Student Adviser for the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

SOFTWARE SKILLS AND COMPETENCE

Alessia Polemi has a good knowledge of operating systems such as MS Windows 98/NT/2k/XP/Vista and of the following softwares: MS Office, Maltlab, CorelDraw, Latex, Fortran, C, Mathematica. Furthermore, she has very good competence of the electromagnetic simulation software, such as Ansoft Designer, HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, Grasp, FEKO, MicroWave Office, Wipl-d.

TEACHING ACTIVITY

In the academic year 1999/2000, she has given seminars in the contest of the Electromagnetic Field course at the School of Engineering of University of Siena

In the academic year 2000/2001, she has given seminars in the contest of the Microwave course at the School of Engineering of University of Siena

In the academic year 2001/2002, she has given seminars in the contest of the Antennas course at the School of Engineering of University of Siena

In the academic year 2002/2003, she has been appointed to the course Design of Microwave Circuits at the School of Engineering of University of Siena

In 2003, she has been appointed to a course of Numerical Methods for Electromagnetics at the Master on Microwave Systems on Technologies for Telecommunications, Messina (Italy)

In the academic years 2003/2004 and 2004/2005, she has been appointed to the course Electromagnetic Modelling at the School of Engineering of University of Siena
