IEEE 2017 Workshop on Emergency Networks for Public Protection and Disaster Relief - 4th edition

It is a great pleasure to inform you that the proposal of the IEEE EN4PPDR workshop for the 2017 IEEEE WiMob Conference has been accepted and this year will be the 4th edition, after the successful editions in Larnaca (2014), Abu Dhabi (2015) and New York City (2016).


IEEE EN4PPDR Workshop within IEEE WiMob 2017, the 13th IEEE International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Computing, Networking and Communications will be in Rome (Italy) on October, 9th

Open positions available for candidates to Ph.D. at The International Doctorate School in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)


Available Research Topics:

1) Performance analysis of SDN controllers

  • Activities plan:

- setup of several SDN controllers on PCs in the Lab (programming langauges python, java, C++, ...);

- setup of a benchmarking tool (e.g. cbench) and definition of metrics;

- performance evaluation.


2) Programming of an Application Aware SDN data-plane

  • Activities plan:

- study of the language P4;

- study of the simulation tool Mininet;

- implemenation of a virtual switch P4-compatible for packet analysis;

- definition of policies for traffic management.


3) Advanced Traffic Management System - Intelligent Transportation System

- Vehicular traffic analysis;

- real time traffic (from video cameras, sensors, ...) analysis;

- safety

- V2X communications
