Dr. Ing. Matteo Fiorani

Matteo Fiorani received the B.S. degree and the M.S. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Modena, Italy, in 2007 and 2010, respectively. He received a PhD in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) from the same University in February 2014, defending a thesis entitled “Architectures for Energy Efficient Optical Networks”. During his PhD studies he had a long-term collaboration with the Institute of Telecommunications, Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria.

He is currently Postdoctoral researcher at the Optical Networks Lab. (ONLab), KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.

International Collaborations:

1) From January to May 2010 he was with the Institute of Broadband Communications, Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, working on his M.S. thesis.

2) In June 2012 and from January to March 2013 he was with the Institute of Telecommunications, Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, as a visiting Ph.D. student.

3) From May to November 2013 he was with the Optical Networks Lab. (ONLab), KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, as a visiting Ph.D. student.


Research Interest

His research interests include:

1) Optical interconnects for data center networks

2) Green mobile backhauling technologies

3) Optical WDM metro/aggregation networks

4) Carrier cloud networking.
