Alessia Polemi was born in Casteldelpiano (Gr), Italy, on July 10, 1973. She received the Dr. Ing. degree in Engineering of Telecommunications (cum laude) from the [http://www.unisi.it University of Siena] in July 1999 discussing a thesis about the [http://lipari.ing.unimo.it/polemi/tesi.pdf Array Green's Function for a Semi-Infinite Array of Dipoles on a Grounded Slab.]From November 1999 to October 2002 she was a Ph.D student at the [http://www.dii.unisi.it Department of Information Engineering (DII)] of the University of Siena. She received the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering in March 2003 with a thesis entitled [http://lipari.ing.unimo.it/polemi/phd_thesis.pdf Frequency-Domain Green’s Function for Planar Periodic Large Phased Arrays in Multilayered Dielectric Regions.] From January 2003 to October 2006 she was a post doc researcher at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Siena. During the PhD and post-doc period, she has attended different international PhD classes and European schools. Since November 2006 she has been an Assistant Professor of Electromagnetic Fields at the [http://www.ing.unimo.it School of Engineering], [http://www.dii.unimo.it Department of Information Engineering] of the [http://www.unimo.it University of Modena and Reggio Emilia], where she is teaching Radiopropagation and she is being assistant at the course of Elctromagnetic Fields. In 2008, she has been visiting professor at University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, working on plasmonic structure with Prof. Nader Engheta. Her current research includes high frequency and asymptotic techniques, numerical modelling, printed antennas and arrays, RFID systems, periodic structures, metamaterials and plasmonics at optical frequencies. From 2000 she is member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and from November 2006 she is also the Italian Student Advisor for the Institute of Electrical Engineering (IET). <br>

From January 2003 to October 2006 she was a post doc researcher at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Siena. During the PhD and post-doc period, she has attended different international PhD classes and European schools.
