<br />Giorgio M. Vitetta received the Dr. Ing. Degree in Electronic Engineering (cum Laude) in 1990 and the Ph. D. degree in 1994, both from the University of Pisa, Italy. In 1992/1993 he spent a period at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, doing research for digital communications on fading channels under the supervision of prof. Desmond P. Taylor. From 1995 to 1998 he was a Research Fellow at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. From November 1998 to October 2001 he has been holding the position of Associate Professor of Telecommunications at the Department of Engineering Sciences of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Since November 2011 he is holding the position of Full Professor of Telecommunications at the Department of Information Engineering of the same university. He gives courses of Digital Transmission Theory and Telecommunication Systems. His main research interests lie in the broad area of communication theory, with particular emphasis on coded modulation, synchronization and channel equalization. He is serving as an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications (Editor for Channel Models and Equalization in the Area of Transmission Systems), the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (in the area of Transmission Systems) and the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters.

From March 2005 to March 2007 he was involved in the European Union FP-6 NoE NEWCOM (Network of Excellence in Wireless Communications, Contract IST NoE 507325), in which he has led a specific project (dubbed Project B) devoted to the study of ultra-wide band communication systems.

Prof. Vitetta has coauthored the book "Signal Theory" (in Italian, published by McGraw-Hill Italy) and the book "Wideband Wireless Digital Communications" (A. F. Molisch, Editor; published by Prentice Hall, PTR). He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Giorgio M. Vitetta received the Dr. Ing. Degree in Electronic Engineering (cum Laude) in 1990 and the Ph. D. degree in 1994, both from the University of Pisa, Italy.
